Tell Me Your New Years Resolution

Here we are ready for a New Year and what it might bring in our future. I guess that depends on what we decide at the beginning of the year or as we know it a New Years Resolution. So I'm going to tell you a couple of mine and please fill free to leave yours in the comment box under this blog. Just curious to see what other people have on their minds and what commitments they may follow. You don't have to leave your name or anything like that. It can be totally anonymous. So for instance, my first New Years Resolution would be to love a little more. What I mean by that is, everyday life deals us cards and how we choose to play the hand dealt could affect a lot of people or maybe just yourself. If we choose to love a little more, then every hand played will be a winner.
My second New Years Resolution, would have to be never take what we hold dear for granted. It seems we are all guilty of this. Assuming that what we have day in and day out will always be. Especially when it comes to those we love or even the people we work with. There will be a time if it hasn't happened already, where we expect something, because its always been there and nothing. You can put that into perspective on life as well. So those are a couple of things I will work on. Let me know yours. Be good and Happy New Year from The Millers'. Love, peace, and God Bless our troops.

Bring in the NEW YEAR

So this is the end, of 2013 that is and the beginning of 2014. I'm getting ready to relocate my family and the worst is almost over. It has been a hard 2 months and the test of all tests for our marriage. You tend to forget your priorities and obligations when your so for from your family. its like a never ending battle. Like there's no end to the war. But it's almost over. Thankfully my wife and I have, what I think is a strong relationship and we will be victorious. The year will come to an end. In the end there is always a new beginning and hopefully this coming year it will be forever stress free. LOL yeah right. So like others we will commit to a resolution that will not be carried out. Well at least the first 2 months we will, but, then we will forget to follow through. Proven fact that now a days people are more busy and take on way to much to fulfill any resolution. Word of advice, make small resolutions and you will fill more accomplished. The bright side is that the Broncos are the number 1 seed and have home field advantage threw the playoffs. Yeah baby!!, New York here we come. Lots of records being broken and they are rolling. This year will be awesome because I' am going to make it a point to take more charge of my life and take my family on more trips and outings.
To conclude this little segment I say to you Happy New Year and may you have success in the near future. To my family I love and miss you. God Bless our troops, love and peace to everyone else.

Ghost of Christmas Past

I remember growing up as a kid the night before Christmas. My parents always made us stay up late to insure we would sleep through the night. But as a kid, the only night of the year where it doesn't matter how long you stay up, you were excited, eager, and anxious to get a glimpse of the man in the red suit. Same routine over and over, every it seemed. Bound and determined to catch him in the act of sliding down the chimney or even the last glimpse of him and his team of reindeer taking off from the roof top of your house. Which takes me to the Christmas of 1984. My brother and I were just getting ready for bed. Mom came in telling us you better get some sleep or Santa won't come. Let me take a step away from this story for a moment. To tell you about my Mom. She was a hard working individual. Proud, strong, wonderful and loving mother. Always made the holidays special. No matter how hard things were. Honestly, I can say she was my hero growing up. Being the youngest of three brothers. Always there to talk, listen, and give a hug. In short my Mother was the stuff and never could compare to others. The rock in three young boys life. So mom, if your reading this, I just wanted to say thanks for everything and I love you dearly. Your my true meaning of Christmas.
Ok, back to the story of Christmas 1984. Where was I, oh yes. So my brother and I were making it quick to get to bed, so Santa would come. Plate of Cookies for the long traveler and to top it off a glass of fresh cold milk. That's right, the good stuff. I remember not being able to sleep at all that night, only being six years old, full of excitement and wonder. I managed to fall asleep. The next morning to my surprise, it was a beautiful sight. The tree lit, stockings filled with candy and toys, from the big man himself. The plate of cookies eaten and the glass of brisk cold milk gone. My brother being the great detective he is, said, " Hey look at this!".  I went over and with a squint in my eyes, my brother, holding his hand up and his pointer finger and thumb were pinched together tightly, only to notice a single white, not grey, but white hair he had found on the plate of eaten cookies. Wondrous to behold and amazing to my young mind. It's official, he does exist. Santa is real and we had the proof in the pudding. The most amazing Christmas of all times. The Spirit of Christmas is different in all, but, that's my spirit right there. To me something to share with my kids and their kids.
I know it sounds corny, but, it's mine and that's what matters most. So I ask you this. What's your most powerful memory of Christmas? What keeps us in believing? I know what keeps me believing.
Thanks Mom for all the wonderful Christmases over the years. Thanks for showing me how to show my kids the true meaning of Christmas. Until next time, Happy holidays from the Millers', peace, love, and god bless our troops on this most precious holiday..

Going Home For the Holidays

As we all saddle up for the biggest holiday of the year. Some of us don't have to travel and some do. Me, well, I'm the part that has to travel. I just got off work and it's 2:25am Christmas eve morning. Soon as I'm done here, I will be hitting the hay for a few Zs'  and then getting up and heading home to see my family. Now I have never really traveled anywhere for Christmas except outside in the morning to make sure Santas' reindeer didn't eat my lawn and leave little presents of their own. Also to make sure he isn't stuck in mine or the neighbors chimney. Yep that's about as far as I traveled. Only to turn around to go back inside and realize I locked myself out again. Don't think about pounding on the door, because no one can hear you. They are to busy celebrating and I'm to busy trying to blend in with smurfs. Now that my feet and hands have lost all circulation and my nose is red as a cherry. You know they say Santas' nose is as red as a cherry and he's happy and stuff. I don't see it. Hmmmm, I will try harder I guess. But finally the door opens and they let you in. I can't be mad at them. I just had a moment of My I.Q. is a grade lower than bean dip right now that's all. Oh well, there's always next year. To do the same thing over and over. Funny thing is you remind yourself not to do that again. But human nature falls into place and once again the door is locked and your standing outside, AGAIN!!! LOL.  Merry Christmas and to those who are traveling be safe getting home. Most of all, Hide the key under the rock. Until next time, peace, love and god bless our troops. Happy Holidays from The Millers'

Post Season

Now that the year is almost over, we go into what I like to call the Post Season. The Post Season in my view is the new beginning. Always look forward to Christmas and always look forward to the NFL playoffs. January will be exciting, the start of a new year and the start of a new way of life. What does the new year bring, I will tell you. It brings a bunch of busted resolutions, I'm going to lose weight, blah, blah, blah... Well a box of twinkies , ho hos', and some early morning drive thru breakfast should take care of that, 20lbs later and I mean up and not down. To quit some bad habit, only to find yourself the number investor of the product. Me, well I make small resolutions. Like going to work a little harder on being more efficient with family time or going to drink a little more water and a little less beer(LOLOLOLOL yeah right busted....). Who knows I might win the lottery(redneck retirement plan). But as we bring the new year and look towards the future of another Post Season, I say let loose. Live like there's no tomorrow, be good to yourselves and to others. A little adventure is order I think. Maybe go skiing in the Rocky Mountains', with only a smile(wooo that's cold). Maybe going bungee jumping off a perfectly good bridge that has road to the bottom. But back to the subject of Post Season. The NFL baby yeahhhhh, go broncos. I think they will make a little noise in the playoffs to that great eternal bound glory at the end.  So to put into perspective I think the world will be a little better in 2014 and that government will be for the people(LOL) , yeah right.
In till next time peace, love, and god bless our troops. Happy Holidays

RADAR

So as many of you know that I work in one City and my family is lives in another. Trying to get relocated has been difficult. I am staying with some friends in till that happens. I forget what its like to have roommates. Now my roommates, are to very close friends that I have known for over 25 years, practically family. Anyway so I have been staying with friends, working nights go to work at 2:30PM get home most nights around 2:30AM. This is a very tiresome shift. I haven't slept in till 11:00AM in years. But of one my friends has this little dog, about 7lbs soaking wet, tan in color sand some grey, blue glazed eyes cause he's 19 years old, that's like 126 years old in dog years, and when he walks, he walks kind of sideways, with a slight curl in his old body, lets put it this way, he could make a left turn on a dime with out thought. His name is Radar and like the movie M.A.S.H. where this name arrived from, he should be dusted off from time to time and appreciated. Just saying I haven't seen a small dog that old before. I mean this dog is old, so old, I bet he was mentioned in the bible a time or two, and prehistoric archaeologist have bids for the find. To make a long story short, every time my buddy leaves, mind you I'm sleeping from working all night, anyway every time he leaves this dog comes up stairs and sits in the middle of room and starts crying, barking, and howling.
You know what I mean, like a puppy you get and you leave the room for a moment. Yeah its like that. I'm afraid to go out there, cause like I said he's old and can't hear very good or see. If I was to go out in the living room un announced it would scare him and knowing my luck he would fall over from a heart attack. Then I would feel bad. Oh well, just saying. Radar is a one of a kind , a rarity, a sandstone in the rough as you will. I like him and he likes me. But for the love god and take no offense to this, cause your my little buddy too Radar, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
Anyway, now that I'm awake, I think I will get my laundry done, LOL. In till next time, peace, love and god bless our troops. Happy Holidays.

Stockings are hung by the chimney with Care

Twas  a week before Christmas and all out of time, I spent every last dollar, even my last dime.
So much to do and no time at all, whoa this ice is slippery, I almost taken a fall.  Rush to the store for last minute shopping, people happy and people were popping. Mason wanting this and Zandyr wanting that, LaLa stole my comb, my wallet, and my hat. The Queen nestled up to the fire with care in hopes of me, myself and I to be there. On Christmas eve with all that's so bright, I'll make my home, I'll catch the next flight. With gifts in one arm and love in my heart, Next year will be different, next I'll be smart.  Once again Christmas will come in and go in a day of our life, I love you my family, I love you my wife. So as we all settle down with time we can spare, make sure the stockings are hung by the chimney with care.

LOL. That's just a little of my skill right there, okay I wont quit my day. Anyway Merry Christmas everyone. God bless our troops who keep us safe, peace and love to everyone else.
